My kids are enjoying learning to read words and sight words through all of the new materials. The kids love the fishing for sight word game, all the \"How to Catch a...\" books and even building words using the dice game and crayon boxes. I think any kid loves opening new materials and getting to use them, but overall they were excited with just how these materials make learning to read fun for them. \r\n\r\nWe have a common time each day called RTI where teachers put students in similar leveled groups to work on skills they need to practice and improve on. Some of those skills include sight words, decoding and blending CVC words, and reading decodable books. All of these skills were my focus with this project and I received materials to help teach those skills in fun ways to my students thanks to donors like you. My students love the squishy pillows to sit on while reading and working. Lastly, I truly believe these materials are going to make a difference in the reading of my current students as well as my future classrooms to come.\r\n\r\nMy next steps for my classroom are to encourage my students to start reading more at home and really spend a lot of time this year on teaching the foundational skills for reading such as phonemic awareness and explicit phonics instruction. With these next steps I will expect my students to put their best foot forward and try everything I lay in front of them. As my student's first teacher, it is my job to not only teach them but make the learning age-appropriate and fun for them and their little brains. Once again, my students and I couldn't be more thankful for your generous donation to our classroom project.","fullyFundedDate":1746465753241,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-read-through-play-and-games/9312885/","projectTitle":"Learning to Read Through Play and Games!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Redding","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10012163_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y184&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746227753389","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/k-redding"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39462","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":43,"numTeachers":7,"percentFrplEligible":62,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"6.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":33.3,"schoolId":39462,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Albin Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Albin Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wyoming/laramie-county-school-district-2/albin-elementary-school/39462"}
