The book series you provided—including collections from James Patterson, Hunger Games, Goosebumps, and the Percy Jackson Ultimate Collection—have truly energized our students' love for reading. Learners are reaching for these books not only during silent reading but also in their free time—they're excited to discover new stories and authors thanks to your support. The crayons, pencils, and especially the cozy cushions have made a huge difference as well; students now enjoy partner reading and writing comfortably on the floor almost every day, transforming our classroom into a welcoming, flexible space.\r\n\r\nThe games you donated—Connect 4, Uno, Guess Who?, Scattegories, and the ever-popular Rubiks cubes—have become favorites for students when they finish assignments or have downtime on Fridays. I don't allow computer use during these breaks, so the games are a wonderful way for students to challenge themselves, work together, and build problem-solving skills. Their excitement was clear the moment these materials arrived, and their enthusiasm hasn't faded—they use them regularly and often ask me to play with them, though they generally win!\r\n\r\nCurrently, our 8th graders are diving into \"Rebound\" by Kwame Alexander and exploring themes and main ideas through essays and class discussions. 7th graders are finishing their medieval unit with \"The Midwife's Apprentice\" and will soon launch into World War II with the novel \"Code Talker.\" Sixth graders just wrapped up a writing assignment on the book \"Bud, Not Buddy,\" focusing on citing evidence and making inferences by answering the question of \"What makes Bud a survivor?\". My learners, grades 6-8 have been enjoying the items sent to us on a regular basis and I've really enjoyed watching them create and grow in ways which don't strictly apply to the academics we cover in class.\r\nI am a firm believer that even at the middle school level, learners require interactive activities for social and emotional growth. Our school is also a cell phone free zone, which makes it even easier to get them engaged in activities where they have to interact face to face and do things such as compromise, encourage, and build on those important collaborative skills they will need in the real world.
