One of their favorite moments was when we started our rock art project. Many of the students had never even heard of painting on rocks before, so it felt like discovering something brand new. They also absolutely love using the Sharpies you helped provide, and the storage cases have been incredibly helpful for organizing supplies and teaching students how to care for shared materials.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first learned that people donated these supplies specifically for them, they were amazed. Many of them said they didn't realize there were people out there willing to support their learning in that way. They were proud of the classroom and reminded each other to take good care of the materials because they knew how hard I worked to get them for our art room.\r\n\r\nThe supplies have helped us continue exploring creative projects. Recently, we studied artist Betye Saar and created artwork inspired by \"The Black Girl's Window.\" The cardstock paper, shiny new crayons, and markers helped students bring their ideas to life. We also completed a project called Zentangle, a fun drawing technique where students create structured patterns to design detailed images—in our case, bears wearing ugly Christmas sweaters! The students were so proud of their work. Your support is helping them see themselves as artists, and that confidence means everything.!","fullyFundedDate":1730669168729,"projectUrl":"project/imagination-station-fueling-creativity/8743885/","projectTitle":"\"Imagination Station: Fueling Creativity Through Art\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hines Art Club","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9732824_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725587194689","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hinesartclub"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_72633","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":155,"numTeachers":9,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":86,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":72633,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Darrell Lynn Hines Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Darrell Lynn Hines Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/wisconsin-department-of-public-institute/darrel-lynn-hines-academy/72633"}
