Because of your kindness, my students now have access to a growing collection of books that match their current reading levels and help fuel their excitement for reading. We also have a few new literacy activities as well. The moment the books arrived, the classroom buzzed with joy and curiosity. When I opened the boxes the students were very excited. I shared with them how I have more appropriate books that they can read now. The students all cheered. It was a powerful reminder of how access to the right materials can build both skill and confidence.Since then, we've incorporated the new books into our daily reading routine. Each day, students select \"just right\" books from the new additions for independent reading and take-home practice. It's amazing to see them engaged in meaningful conversations about books, practicing fluency, comprehension, and most importantly, developing a true love of reading. We've read to our classmates, building speaking skills and a community of readers. Thanks to your support, they'll have plenty of rich, level-appropriate texts to choose from.Your generosity has made a lasting impact. My students are able to take home books back and forth to school in the canvas bags from your donations. The bags ensure the books are going back and forth to school and home in a way to keep the books safe. The book bags help protect the books from damage. They are also cute and the students are excited about the bright colors and love carrying them with their handles. Not only are the bags cute and convenient, they help us also reduce our use of plastic. The books we've received my students use daily to practice their reading skills. We use the books your donation provided throughout our day here at school. Students love the print rich fiction and nonfiction books. The books are used to teach students how to read. We send them home each night to practice at home what they are learning here at school. Our classroom library was in need of new books that are student centered and have topics of interest. With our updated books, students have been motivated to read more too. The books have not only impacted current classes but future students as well.","fullyFundedDate":1729542751414,"projectUrl":"project/book-bags/8646726/","projectTitle":"Book Bags","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Menke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5755869_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1534993908878","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5755869"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37883","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":230,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":63,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":37883,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jefferson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jefferson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/wauwatosa-school-district/jefferson-elementary-school/37883"}
