My students have access to snack items to keep their bellies full and ready to learn. They also know that anyone who forgets a snack has access to a snack during the day. There is no stigma attached to students who can not afford a snack either. They just know where the drawer is and are able to take care of their body needs. This has made a difference in the flow of the routine in the classroom as well. Students don't need to tell me they forgot their snack, they are able to problem solve on their own.
