Many of the materials you donated, allow one of my students in particular to access his learning in a way he could not without your support. He uses a lot of assistant technology as he is limited in mobility and is non-speaking. With the resources you have sent, he is able to play with his friends by hitting what is called a switch- a button that connects to something else that triggers a cause-effect. For example, one of things he loves is a \"disco light\"- it is an adapted light that when he hits the button, it turns on. He puts on the party lights for classroom dance parties and EVERYONE has a great time! You also have helped provide a voice for this student by donating recordable buttons that he can hit with his hand to share an idea, choice, etc. He led a cheer during our Homecoming Pepfest with a button you donated, so that he could be part of the homecoming festivities. He got the whole gym cheering and hooting with Panther pride. It is a moment that will not be forgotten by many. Oftentimes we think about the impact these supports have on the student who uses them, but we don't always remember to think big picture about the impact it has on his peers, his family, and our community. We are so excited to keep putting the materials to use, and we will plan to use them to bring additional ideas to our high school students who may try to build more accessible materials through our STEM programming. These materials have been supportive and inspiring for many. \r\n\r\nThank you so very much, from all of us at SCC!","fullyFundedDate":1779370474110,"projectUrl":"project/switching-it-up-in-bunks-room/10134404/","projectTitle":"“SWITCHING” it up in Bunk’s room!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bunk","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10458412"},{"teacherId":10458497,"projectId":10134587,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in expanding seating options for my 5th graders! When I brought out the stools the kids were soo excited! They think it's awesome that their feet touch the floor and they have the ability to twist and turn at their seats. The kids who need a back on their chair for either stability or comfort enjoy having the bands in the chairs legs to allow them some freedom for movement as well. The seat cushions have been a game changer for the floor - kids enjoy silent reading or completing assignments around the classroom. \r\nWe are beyond grateful for your gifts to our classroom and it's been a different in our comfort level and energy! Being able to turn off the florescent lighting is so nice and it created a calming feeling just being in the space.
