The new microphones, mic stands, and cords have completely changed the way students participate and learn in music class and Rock Star Academy. Using real performance equipment gives students authentic experiences that build confidence, communication skills, and teamwork. Students are learning how to properly use microphones, project their voices, practice stage presence, and perform in front of others. The technology also helps students hear themselves more clearly, which improves singing accuracy, speaking skills, and overall performance quality. Many students who are normally shy in class are now excited to participate because the equipment makes them feel like real performers.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the opportunity to perform like actual musicians and singers. The microphones instantly make rehearsals and performances feel more professional and engaging. Students love taking turns using the equipment during Golden Mic performances, classroom activities, announcements, and Rock Star Academy projects. Even simple classroom performances now feel special and memorable to them. The mic stands especially have made students feel more independent and responsible while performing.\r\n\r\nSome of the students who have especially connected with this new technology are those who previously struggled with confidence or participation. Several quieter students have discovered they enjoy singing and speaking when using the microphones because they feel heard and important. Students who thrive in hands-on and creative learning environments have also become leaders in helping others set up and use the equipment responsibly. It has been wonderful to watch students encourage one another, cheer each other on, and grow in confidence through music and performance opportunities made possible by these donations.","fullyFundedDate":1777984521784,"projectUrl":"project/from-classroom-to-center-stage-mics-for/10217155/","projectTitle":"From Classroom to Center Stage: Mics for Our Musicians","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kris Knutson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5792065_orig.jpg?crop=670,670,x164,y186&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760025957511","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kris-knutson"},{"teacherId":2284179,"projectId":9972768,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our classroom project. My K–2nd grade students are now participating in weekly breakout challenges that encourage teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fun and meaningful way. Watching their excitement and determination as they work through each challenge has been truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nI would also like to extend a special thank you to the family who matched donations. By providing access to real, high-quality instruments—including the electric guitar and bass amp—you are opening the door for students to explore music in a hands-on, engaging way, many for the very first time. These resources allow students to participate fully, hear themselves clearly, and feel confident as they learn new skills alongside their peers.\r\n\r\nThe impact goes far beyond learning notes and rhythms. Students develop confidence, teamwork, and perseverance as they collaborate in bands and work toward shared goals. They learn that their individual role matters and that success comes from listening to and supporting one another. For example, a student who may be shy or hesitant at first can light up when they hear their bass line amplified for the first time, realizing that the band depends on them.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity in supporting the electric guitar and bass amp that make these experiences possible. Because of you, students gain a sense of belonging and pride that carries into the classroom and beyond.
