Typically, after a math quiz or test, students pair up and use the games to review math facts and have some downtime while still using our time academically after testing.\r\n\r\nWhen we first got the materials, the students were very enthusiastic about learning how to play each game. We would spend time about every week learning the rules of a new game.\r\n\r\nIn the future, I'd like to expand this into a small unit on math flexibility and strategic thinking. My next idea is to get more cribbage boards so I can teach the class how to play—cribbage promotes number sense, flexible thinking, and critical strategy in a fun, hands-on way. Alternatively, we'll continue introducing other math and strategy games, like solitaire variants, that encourage independent problem-solving and deeper strategic planning.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous support—the students are benefiting academically and socially, and your donors should know their contribution is making a real difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1757700088610,"projectUrl":"project/game-on-math-games-for-5th-graders/9574009/","projectTitle":"Game On!
