I've got the velcro numbered dots on the floor, ready for my kiddos so they know exact spot to sit when they come in (their name with number will be shown on the board). The shelves and organizers are in the band office, making it much easier for me and the students to find what we need (reeds, cleaning clothes, valve oil, screwdrivers, screws, pads, and more). I can simply tell them to look at the shelf, or I can easily grab it myself. It is SOOO nice to be able to organize all of this.\r\n\r\nWith another project, I was able to give my 8-12th band new folders, now I have pencils to put in them (giving them no excuse to not have one! Each of the band kids grades 5-12 will get one. Having the blue folders allows me to give each of my younger students their own folder for classwork as well. and I LOVE THE STICKERS! So will the kids. I've already used the TPT gift card to get some materials for my MS and my beginning band. They have a pencil holder (and you've helped provide pencils in our classroom basics projects so they can't say the don't have one!). They have nice wide pockets and are strong to hold all the music and workbooks we use through the year. This box of music books has something for all ages! Some picture books. Some board books. Some easy chapter books. Some thicker chapter books. All of them about music and music topics! \r\n\r\nAdding these to the books I already have, I will have an amazing set of books to use for various times. I will be using these to read during 4/5th grade music classes, have books for stations (while others are at bells, recorders, task cards, etc.), and potentially even for upper level classes for make-up assignments. In general, having books helps both musical literacy and reading skills. Because of the amount of diversity in the books, I have something for everyone, and about various people groups and disabilities. Yet many want to play and be part of the band. The joy having a newer instrument can bring to these students' faces when presented with a new instrument they get to use is the best. I asked one of my 9th graders if he would like to use his old school one from last year, or play on a new one for the Memorial Day Services coming up. He couldn't believe that 1) someone bought some new saxophones for the band, and that 2) HE gets to play one of them! These books cover a variety of musical topics (rhythms, composers, games, and more) that I can easily make photocopies of for my various classes. The rhythm books will help me teach solid rhythmic patterns to make my students better musicians. The composer books will help me teach about several composers, also making nice worksheets for days I am absent or when we have virtual days. One book I really enjoyed looking through is a book of music games that I can see my 5-7th grade students really getting into and learning in the process. Once they know some of these games, the substitute can also use them as the students can teach them how to play. Thank you for these resources. One of my two students who play the bell set the most was here when it arrived, so we did an unboxing. Her smile! The pictures did not do justice to her excitement. Needless to say, we put the new bell set on a rolling desk, brought it down to the gym for our concert and put it to immediate use.
