I am currently using them with my 6th graders who are reviewing notes. Using these books give them a chance to focus on the correct fingerings since the note names are written in the note values. They can learn the note name by sight (eventually becoming fully known in their brain), while playing. A 6th grade mallet student started playing out it today and was soooo encouraged that he could play a song that I could identify because he could focus on the placement of the note on the bell set and the note value and not have to think at the same time of what the note was called.
