We are the smallest public school district in the state of Wisconsin, and because of limited funding, our Learners aren't always able to access some of the opportunities that larger schools may take for granted.\r\nWe have quite a few learners who utilize our drumset to help with emotional regulation, or as an alternative to breaking window, throwing desks or getting into fights. With the use of the kit in this matter, we go through quite a few drumsticks, and because of your donation of the drumsticks, we are able to continually provide much needed access to a key part of certain Learner's emotional regulation plan. We also have a few Learners who are pretty good drummers, and it is great to offer them nice sticks as an alternative to the ones that get used for regulating.\r\nWe have a few guitars in the school and Learners have used the tuners for keeping the guitars in the zone. We have also used the tuners to learn about different tones and musical notes.\r\nWe appreciate your donation of the marimbas. Many learners thought that they were xylophones so it has been a great learning tool to distinguish the difference between these instruments. Learners have been able to make a connection between a piano keyboard and the marimba.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your donations. They get well utilized.","fullyFundedDate":1772138422838,"projectUrl":"project/our-music-program/9940434/","projectTitle":"Our Music Program","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Travis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10367739"},{"teacherId":10485777,"projectId":10225572,"letterContent":"Having different resources and opportunities available makes a huge difference. The Therapy Games for Teens have been a wonderful addition to our afternoon exploratory class (similar to an elective). We've really been working on helping students find their calm, and these activities have made that process both meaningful and fun.\r\n The sensory items and fidgets have also been a huge success. Sometimes a simple tool to keep hands busy is all a student needs to stay focused and engaged while learning.\r\n Reading in my classroom doesn't always look traditional. You might see students moving between stations, sitting in a small group while I read aloud, reading independently, or listening to text on a computer. Our students learn in many different ways, and the resources you've provided help us support those differences every day.\r\n We also recently began using the geography book and are turning our geography lessons into a culture project. It's been an exciting addition to our routine and has sparked a lot of interest from students.\r\n Everything that has been gifted to our classroom has been put to good use. These resources help our students learn, grow, focus, and succeed in ways that work best for them.\r\n My appreciation is so high. Your generosity is truly amazing, and we are incredibly thankful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1777994131064,"projectUrl":"project/what-we-need-to-succeed/10225572/","projectTitle":"What We Need to Succeed","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ashley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10485777"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38558","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":24,"numTeachers":3,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":40,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":38558,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Norris School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Norris School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/norris-school-district/norris-school/38558"}
