I am so grateful; but more importantly, our girls are. They have stated that they have learned so much important information about taking care of their bodies; and now, through your generous donations of hygiene and feminine care products, they feel empowered to take control of their self-care. \r\n\r\nBy donating to our project, every one of our participants received their own self-care packages complete with basic feminine care products. The girls took one package home and kept a small bag in their lockers for emergencies. It's so nice to see the confident look on their faces, knowing they are able to take care of their needs. The informational session even opened the door for difficult conversations about how to tell a friend about their body odors. Since the sessions, none of our girls have struggled with body odor. \r\n\r\nMiddle school girls of color face daily challenges that adversely affect their self-esteem, mental health, social participation, and ultimately their academic progress. One of the biggest challenges for some of our girls is limited access to basic self-care products. Our Girls of Color Alliance is a group of middle school girls who are committed to changing this trajectory in our school. Since learning more about self-care they have been sharing what they learned with their peers. They are planning to host a self-care spa party for younger girls this spring. Some said they were really \"pleased\" to sit on their pad and others said the wiggle feet helped with their boredom. Another student said the wiggling chair feet really helped with her anxiety as it gave her something to lock into instead of what was bothering her.\r\n\r\nThese tools will last us a long time and will be used by many classes in the future. We appreciate their generosity and support.
