All items have played and will play important parts in our daily play time and small group center times. Although we have not yet gotten to use our \"hammer a letter\" set, we will be in the next couple of weeks for our building study in November. I am very excited to see my students' reaction to this when we bring it out for center time! \r\n\r\nOur old pretend play refrigerator had been well loved and served many years of play time, even years prior to my teaching (6 years) so it was definitely due for an upgrade. My students are loving playing with the new toy refrigerator and have used their imagination in many ways, specially making me pretend meals. We will also continue the use of this refrigerator in our dramatic play area, not just our house area. I am happy that we were able to get a new play refrigerator for our many play opportunities throughout the year. \r\n\r\nIn past years, toy trucks and vehicles had been very popular. Similar to our old toy refrigerator, they needed to be replaced as our old vehicles had missing wheels and missing paint. Again, from being well-loved and played with for many years. The monster truck set we received far exceeded how much I expected kids to enjoy it. It is played with daily and for long periods of time. Kids love to exchange the monster truck pieces to build different variations, but most importantly, to me at least, I love how these trucks have allowed our students, from different background and languages, to imagine together and play together regardless of language barriers. \r\n\r\nIt is because of donors like you that I am able to provide new and refreshed toys for my students. Not only are these toys you are helping fund, but they are opportunities for my students to grow in many skills- literacy, fine motor, social, imagination, and many more.
