For the past three weeks we have been blown away by students' growth, creativity and talents. \r\n\r\nOur student actors arrive to club after a busy day of school, enthusiastically grab a nourishing snack, put on their name tag lanyards and settle into small groups to write in their journals. We hear the joyful scratchings of their mechanical pencils as they respond to a reflection prompt in the language of their choice. Then it is time to gather together to play theater games, pantomime, practice singing Hakuna Matata from Disney's the Lion King, and learning the choreography! Our imaginations, stamina and learning grow each week. We cannot believe how far our aspiring actors have come!\r\n\r\nSoon we will have our stagecraft day; students will paint cardboard and craft headpieces in order to make our savanna and jungle scenes come to life. Then the following week students will present their learning during a student showcase of multiple scenes and two musical numbers with soloists, choreography and a full ensemble of singers and dancers. Our project is off and running! \r\n\r\nAll students in grades 2-5 have been using the new equipment during recess. It has been such an awesome upgrade to our recess routine and students' experience. When we first introduced the new equipment and taught students how to use it (as there were some items students had not used before), the joy, excitement and energy that exuded from students was incredible. The smiles on their faces along with their willingness to try new things and play with new peers has truly been magical. We have also seen a decrease in negative peer interactions during recess, which was our hope. Students (and even some staff, too) are playing together, enjoying the new equipment, creating their own games, practicing social and emotional learning skills and truly having a blast at recess. \r\n\r\nOur next steps are to do all that we can to maintain the positive momentum. This includes taking care of the equipment, refining our check-out system, adding additional items to the cart, and maintaining our strong sense of community. We look forward to continuing to provide students with an a diversified recess experience.","fullyFundedDate":1734460351580,"projectUrl":"project/diversifying-recess-experiences-for-elem/8948183/","projectTitle":"Diversifying Recess Experiences for Elementary Students (Grades 3-5)","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6147163_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732301693280","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6147163"},{"teacherId":4864195,"projectId":8962081,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom.
