The individual donations, along with the match by the efforts of W. Kamau Bell, helped make this dream a reality through your generosity. Our reading corner needed a refresh, and I had a forest/leaf theme already started. I wanted to capitalize on that theme with a plush new leaf design rug to make reading more enjoyable. \r\n When the 9x6 rug arrived, we opened it up at once. Their expressions said it all. They were so happy to have this new addition to our classroom. As a result of their excitement, and knowing they were one of few classrooms to have such beautiful reading corner, they wanted to start using it immediately.\r\n My students have a beautiful and comfortable option for seating, thanks to you. Some of my students enjoy sitting on the carpet while reading a good book or using their laptops to practice math skills. The rug is a perfect addition to our room. It complements the bean bags, floor chairs, and sectional we use in the book corner. The hanging leaves are practically mirrored to the new carpet.\r\n In the future, I'd love to add more sectional seating to the area to increase the overall look and comfort of reading. I'm amazed as to how often the book reading corner gets used as a reading and study area. The students just love it!\r\n Overall, the students are extremely grateful for the generosity you have provided. They actually said they were thankful and impressed that my personal friends would go to such extremes as to donate a good sum of money to make this purchase of seating for them. Together, we are forever in debt to your kindness and generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1760800360690,"projectUrl":"project/read-in-comfort/9835409/","projectTitle":"Read in Comfort","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bushman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6500902_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689021082985","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6500902"},{"teacherId":6500902,"projectId":9293370,"letterContent":"In the spring of 2025, I set out to create a Donors Choose project which would help my students not only learn in a more comfortable environment, but to have an environment in which learning is promoted through flexible seating. The individual donations, along with the one-to-one match by the Ripple Corporation, helped make this dream a reality through your generosity. I've often dreamed of a colorfully themed classroom in which traditional seating and colorful rugs are available as an option. The variety of options gives students a voice in how they would like to learn. Oftentimes at home, our children choose to lay down, study in bed, or sit on the floor. Now they can have some of those similar options in class. Gone are the days of the traditional hard seat chair. \r\n When the 9x12 rug arrived, we opened it up at once. Their expressions said it all. They were so happy to have this colorful addition to our classroom. Some of my students enjoy sitting on the carpet while reading a good book or using their laptops to practice math skills. The rug matches the classroom color theme of orange, light blue, and lime green. It complements the bean bags, floor chairs, sectional, and wobble cushions the students use for alternate seating. \r\n As I look In the future, I'd love to add wobble stools and even better desks on wheels to my classroom. The desks I've been looking at are on wheels, making them extremely easy to move around in groups or for cleaning under. Perhaps the desks are shaped in a way which offers endless possibilities for a variety of arrangements.\r\n Overall, the students and I are extremely grateful for the generosity you have provided. The photos I uploaded are two of my 15 students benefitting from your generosity. I previously was a classroom teacher that recently obtained my masters degree in special education. This is my first year in special education as the case manager of students. I have learned a great deal this year and grown with my students. I service kindergarten and first grade students in several different classrooms. \r\n I have several students with sensory needs. One in particular who uses the weighted butterfly daily. He is calmest when he has light pressure or weight on him. He typically uses the butterfly on his lap while working and sometimes wrapped over his shoulders. It keeps him calm and gives him better control of his body. I have another student that has grown fond of the weighted dog when he is upset. He comes into the special education room and pets the dog while holding it on his lap.\r\n The sensory bottles with the falling glitter and water have been a very popular with all my students. When they come in to work in a small group in my room the first thing they go for is the sensory bottles. They love watching the glitter fall while practicing calm breathing techniques. I have one student that especially loves the pineapple emotion face that he can build different facial expressions with. He is an autistic student that struggles with understanding emotions and body language. The pineapple face has helped him put a name to emotions/facial expressions. His favorite thing to do is build a face then I ask \"how is pineapple feeling\" and he answers with an emotion. \r\n As a classroom teacher I had basic general education supplies but came to realize how much that didn't help my special education students. Your donations have helped me build a better learning environment for my students while growing their curiosity and love for learning.
