My students were so excited to see books that they recognized (at one point even fighting about who got to read each book). Every week my students do free silent reading where they get to choose from the Spanish books you gave us to read. We'll also be using a few of these books for units later this year where Spanish 1 will be introduced to reading in large chunks for the first time in Spanish. Many studies show that reading increases ones language ability ten-fold. Students pick up vocabulary they wouldn't otherwise recognize or hear and they see grammar structures laid out correctly in their stories. I've been having kids pick up books to read when I'm not asking them to. Some have picked up a book to read after they are done with the activity or a test and working their way through it. Some have been asking to check the books out and take them home!\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom and a small school!
