During the months of April and May, families read \"The Trouble With Chickens\" together and discussed the book on a virtual discussion platform. In May, families were invited to attend a celebration night where all activities were chicken/mystery themed to match the story. We had so much fun making crafts and a snack, joining our superintendent for a read aloud of \"Interrupting Chicken,\" playing a toss the chicken game, and gathering clues at each activity that were needed to unlock the Breakout EDU box at the end of our time together. \r\n\r\nWe selected a title that could be followed, understood, and enjoyed by younger \r\nstudents, but that still captivated and engaged older children. Family Book Club supports the importance of reading aloud at home to help children grow as readers while enhancing their ability to engage in literacy based discussions.
