These expansive grids allow them to visualize mathematical concepts in a more tangible way, helping them better understand the relationships between variables and how equations translate into graphs. The size of the grids gives students ample space to work through problems, make connections, and observe patterns, which boosts their confidence and comprehension. Having such a tool at their disposal turns abstract math into something interactive and engaging, sparking curiosity and a deeper understanding of the subject.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, these large grids also encourage collaboration among students. By working together in groups, they are able to share ideas, discuss strategies, and solve problems collectively. This collaborative environment fosters communication skills and helps students approach challenges from different perspectives. As they engage in group work, they develop critical thinking abilities and learn to support each other's learning. In this way, the grids are not just a tool for mathematical exploration but also a catalyst for building teamwork, problem-solving, and analytical thinking—skills that will serve them well both in and outside the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1778061982977,"projectUrl":"project/magnetic-coordinate-grids-for-math/10233805/","projectTitle":"Magnetic Coordinate Grids for Math!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stefonek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9921224"},{"teacherId":2830490,"projectId":9980347,"letterContent":"Our students were thrilled when they first saw the new light-up drumsticks for our Unified Physical Education cardio drumming program. The excitement was immediate, and students of all abilities, including those with disabilities, were eager to participate and try the new equipment. The visual element created an engaging and motivating environment that encouraged even hesitant students to join in and feel successful.\r\nWe are using the drumsticks during cardio drumming lessons designed to build cardiovascular endurance, coordination, rhythm, and teamwork while fostering an inclusive environment where students with and without disabilities learn and move together. One memorable moment was during a group routine when students worked collaboratively to keep a beat and follow movement patterns. Students who are often quieter or reluctant to participate became more engaged, smiled more, and showed increased confidence as they performed alongside their peers. The glowing drumsticks added excitement and helped students stay focused and immersed in the activity.\r\nThe new resources have strengthened our ability to create meaningful, inclusive experiences where every student can participate at their own level. Beyond physical activity, students are developing communication skills, cooperation, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging within our Unified PE community.\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue progressing through more advanced cardio drumming routines, creating their own rhythm sequences, and working in teams to perform choreographed drumming patterns. We plan to incorporate student leadership opportunities where students help teach routines to peers, further building confidence and inclusion. These resources will continue to support engaging, accessible physical activity experiences that make movement enjoyable for all learners while promoting lifelong healthy habits.\r\nThank you for helping provide experiences that make students excited to move, connect with others, and celebrate success together.","fullyFundedDate":1778062038929,"projectUrl":"project/drumming-in-unified-physical-education/9980347/","projectTitle":"Drumming in Unified Physical Education","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bieszk","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2830490_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1470341047818","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bayviewpe"},{"teacherId":3875554,"projectId":9970856,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your generous support in providing Magnetic Coordinate Grids for our classroom. There is a unique kind of excitement that fills the room when \"new tools\" appear, but the real magic happened when we actually put them to use. We have integrated these grids into our weekly math routine where students work at standing whiteboards. Seeing their faces light up as they realized they could now plot complex functions with precision—without the frustration of hand-drawing messy axes—was a highlight of our semester.\r\n\r\nCurrently, these resources have transformed our classroom into a hub of activity. My students are utilizing the grids to dive deep into graphing functions, working in small groups to visualize how different variables change the shape of a line or curve. Because the grids are magnetic, students can easily shift their focus from solving an equation to representing it visually. They are truly acting as critical thinkers and solutionists, debating coordinates and refining their work in real-time. The standing whiteboards have become a stage for them to grow as communicators, as they must explain their mathematical reasoning to their peers while they build their graphs together.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, our next steps involve exploring more complex systems of equations and transformations. These magnetic grids will remain a permanent fixture in our \"thinking classroom,\" providing the structure students need to tackle high-level math with confidence. Thank you for providing the tools that allow my students to step away from their desks and step into the roles of true mathematicians.","fullyFundedDate":1705078940575,"projectUrl":"project/transforming-learning-with-magnetic-grap/8029488/","projectTitle":"Transforming Learning with Magnetic Graphs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Van Nuland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3875554"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36966","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":844,"numTeachers":57,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":86.9,"schoolId":36966,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bay View Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bay View Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/howard-suamico-school-district/bay-view-middle-school/36966"}
