Having access to different genres, topics, and voices gave every student a chance to find something they actually enjoyed reading. Whether it was a mystery, a graphic novel, or a story they could relate to personally, the variety made reading feel more fun and less like a chore.\r\n\r\nOnce students started finding books they liked, their interest in reading really took off. They were reading more often and improving their comprehension. I noticed big changes in class—more thoughtful conversations, stronger writing, and even the quieter students began sharing their thoughts. It was clear that having the right books helped build their confidence.\r\n\r\nAll of this showed up in their test scores, too. As their reading skills improved, so did their performance on exams and assignments that prepare them for life after high school. They were thinking more critically and feeling more prepared for what comes next. These books didn't just boost scores—they helped students see new possibilities for their futures.","fullyFundedDate":1740682159278,"projectUrl":"project/reading-for-all-students/9130031/","projectTitle":"Reading for All Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arnold","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6562471_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753120010146","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6562471"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38428","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":941,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":79,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":38428,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Elkhorn Area High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Elkhorn Area High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/elkhorn-area-school-district/elkhorn-area-high-school/38428"}
