We are using the new resources in our physics program here at Benton High School. The materials in this project will be used in our next unit where we are talking about forces, energy and engineering by designing a shoe. Our phenomenon for this unit is that there are shoes designed to walk on water - which we debunk with our investigations. The students will start out looking and collecting data on their own shoes. They will use the force plate to figure out how the amount of cushioning affects force. The will then connect force and acceleration through the design process. The fan cart will help us with renewable energy sources in another unit. \r\n\r\nThe students were very excited to receive the equipment and learn more and interesting ideas related to physics.","fullyFundedDate":1754854308738,"projectUrl":"project/adding-energy-and-force-to-physics/9265059/","projectTitle":"Adding Energy and Force to Physics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Boardman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3098958_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1525815165008","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sciencerox"},{"teacherId":3098958,"projectId":9265366,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations! The Playfoam Couch has quickly become a centerpiece of our room. With its 14 pieces—footstools, semi-circular cushions, triangular cushions, armrests, arched pads, and square cushions—students can build castles, race cars, reading nooks, obstacle courses, and countless other creations. Its premium-density sponge stands up to hours of tumbling, crawling, and climbing, while the soft, washable velvet cover makes it easy for us to keep clean and fresh. Every day, children collaborate to design new structures, sparking creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in ways we hadn't been able to before.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was just as strong for the Everyday Heroes Police & Fire Set. As soon as it came out of the box, students began role-playing as real-life helpers—answering pretend emergency calls, staging rescues, and talking through how to keep people safe. This detailed play set has opened the door to rich discussions about community workers, empathy, and responsibility. One student proudly said, \"I'm keeping everyone safe today!\"\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll be weaving these resources into lessons on safety, citizenship, and story-telling. The Playfoam Couch will serve as both a creative building station and a calm corner for self-regulation, while the Police & Fire Set will anchor dramatic-play units where students practice language, cooperation, and real-world problem-solving. Your support has given my students durable tools for active play and powerful opportunities to grow their imaginations, their social skills, and their confidence. I was overwhelmed with the manuals and supplies, as well as recommendations for websites and books to reference in addition to the studies. \r\n\r\nThroughout the training, I learned a variety of engaging games and activities to help students deepen their understanding of morphological concepts. I also received a complete guide to teaching Latin and Greek roots, along with practical tools to implement in the classroom. These new resources have made lessons more interactive and engaging. For example, when discussing a worksheet and doing examples together, I am able to put this sheet under the camera and model to students the expectation and students can clearly see the correct page to be on. The rolling whiteboard made it easy to move concepts and diagrams around the room, encouraging group discussions and hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the document camera and whiteboard, their excitement was amazing! They were eager to use the new tools, which instantly boosted their enthusiasm and participation. It was rewarding to see how these resources helped students feel more involved and confident in sharing their ideas.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I plan to integrate these tools into upcoming lessons on creative problem-solving and group projects. The document camera will allow students to present their work to peers, fostering communication skills, while the rolling whiteboard will support dynamic brainstorming sessions. Your contribution has truly opened up new possibilities for learning, and we are excited to continue building on this momentum.
