My students were so excited when they saw all of the weighted stuffies, the fidgets, the Breathing Pals, the posters, the textured and sensory mats, and the timers along with all of the other things that have kept them calm and feeling safe. Students choose a fidget to use for the class period to either bring to their desk or bring to their study area. They can switch them up so that others can have a turn to use them. \r\n\r\n I have students who need a little extra support and all these things that they can use to help them stay focused, safe, and calm have really inspired them to enjoy coming to the classroom and to learn. The calming corner also has some sensory items in it with the textured mats and sensory mats so that when they need a brain break, they can take their 3 minutes and calm themselves down. \r\n\r\n I am hoping that my students will continue to use the calming tools as needed whenever they feel overwhelmed or just need a little extra boost to help them get through whatever they need to. Students who do not necessarily need these tools appreciate that they are there if they ever do need them. All of us are very grateful for the generous donation. Yaw^ko! The stickers continue to provide a fun way to reward positive behavior enforcement. Many of our students collect the stickers for their water bottles! Such a fun way to promote positive behaviors.
