Your kindness and investment in our students have already made a tremendous impact on both their educational experiences and their confidence.\r\nSince receiving the 3D printer, our students have enthusiastically embraced this new technology. They have learned how to properly start the printer, safely load PLA filament, monitor print progress, and retrieve completed 3D projects from the printer once they are finished. These hands-on opportunities have allowed students to build important technology, problem-solving, and vocational readiness skills while also encouraging teamwork and communication.\r\nBeyond the technical skills, the printer has opened the door to meaningful classroom discussions. As a class, we have participated in many group discussion sessions focused on how adaptive and assistive items can improve daily living and help individuals strengthen their abilities and independence. Students have become deeply engaged in thinking creatively about solutions that can help themselves and others.\r\nUsing the 3D printer, our classroom has explored and created specialized items such as:\r\n• Pencil and marker grips for improved handwriting support\r\n• Adaptive eating utensil handles\r\n• Fidget tools for sensory regulation and focus\r\n• Customized key holders and zipper pulls\r\n• Tablet and phone stands for accessibility\r\n• Wheelchair cup holders and storage hooks\r\n• Therapy and occupational skill manipulatives\r\n• Name plates and communication supports\r\n• Bottle openers with adaptive grips\r\n• Sorting trays and educational manipulatives\r\n• Stress-relief sensory items\r\n• Customized classroom organization tools\r\n• Switch-adapted device holders\r\n• Braille and tactile learning pieces\r\n• Fine motor practice tools and hand-strengthening devices\r\nThese projects have given students a sense of pride and accomplishment as they watch their ideas transform into useful, real-world items. The excitement and confidence they experience when completing a project is truly incredible to witness.\r\nYour generosity has not only provided equipment and supplies, but also opportunities for creativity, independence, innovation, and inclusion. The experiences our students are gaining through this program will continue to benefit them far beyond the classroom.\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and supporting meaningful learning experiences that empower them every day. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and support.\r\nWith sincere appreciation,\r\nMrs. Terri Kennedy\r\nMount View\r\nHigh School ID Classroom","fullyFundedDate":1770304990634,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-special-learners-with-hands-o/9813689/","projectTitle":"Empowering Special Learners with Hands-On 3D Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kennedy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10307219"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45135","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":521,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":76,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":45135,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mount View Middle High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mount View Middle High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/mcdowell-co-school-district/mount-view-middle-high-school/45135"}
