While I had wanted new Tubano drums for my kids, the company was sadly out of stock. Have no fear! I found enough replacement drums that my kiddos no longer have to share when we play, and even scored a new tambourine to play with them. I have some very enthusiastic little learners, who love to play any instruments, but especially the drums! We love to drum along to read aloud books, learn about famous drummers from around the world, and create our own rhythms to perform. \r\n\r\nWhen my students received the materials, it was like Christmas morning! They saw the delivery man before I did, and started jumping up and down. One of my gathering drums came in a box so large, that a first grader was able to sit inside of the box. The kids got a hoot out of that! I had to wait to unbox them all until a particular class who was extra excited, because they wanted to be the first to see these amazing instruments. \r\n\r\nIn the future, I hope to have a performance using my books, poems, and rhythms for all to see on the drums. I can't keep them on the shelves. My kiddos have a love of reading that I haven't seen in a long time, and your contribution helped that love grow. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, I teach General Music to students in grades PreK-5. At the end of our school day, students are allowed to participate in Pirate Time, which is 15 minutes of free play. Last year, I started a Silent Book Club during this time, where students can bring a book and read together for 15 minutes, but I often encountered students who didn't have a book because it wasn't their library day, and they had already finished the book they checked out. So, I started collecting used and some new books for my kiddos to use. With your contribution, I was able to fill up my bookcase, and give over 100 students access to read! Because of your donation, my classroom was able to have some sensory items for our special education classroom. Although my original project had some items unavailable, I was able to request different items. \r\nThe chair bands have been installed on my student chairs. My students love having an option for a foot fidget as they work on their math assignments. I also was able to get a bin of sensory sand with accessories. This has been a great addition to our brain break area. I also received squishy \"friends\" to use as desk buddies throughout the day. The students love to pick a friend to keep at their desk while they work. Lastly, and our class's favorite, are two jellyfish tanks.
