We have been using them in my classroom to quantify the tension in a rope before and during acceleration events like the ones seen in the pictures I have sent along. The pictures feature a modified Atwood machine that is being accelerated in various ways via a laboratory investigation that students complete. Upon finishing this lab, students will have experimental support for Newton's 2nd Law. \r\n\r\nThe students responded extremely positively when I mentioned that the materials were purchased for them by the larger community in order to give them an authentic and hands-on physics experience that transcended pure book learning and white boarding. They jumped into the lab with enthusiasm! \r\n\r\nNow that we are done with forces, we will begin to investigate similar experimental set ups through the lens of energy conservation!
