It may seem like a simple supply, but it has made a bigger impact than you might imagine.\r\n\r\nMy students use these pencils every single day for everything we do in class, from annotating short stories and taking notes to brainstorming ideas and drafting essays. \r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely excited when the pencils arrived. It brought some smiles and also helped students feel cared for, knowing that people outside our classroom wanted to support their learning.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are moving into a literary analysis unit where students will read a novel and practice finding evidence to support their ideas. The pencils will continue to be used every day as students annotate texts, underline important details, and draft written responses. Our next step is helping students turn their ideas into strong paragraphs with clear evidence and explanation.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helps remove one of the simple barriers that can get in the way of learning. Because of you, my students can focus on their thinking and their writing instead of worrying about not having the materials they need.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making such a meaningful difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1770307472069,"projectUrl":"project/because-ideas-dont-write-themselves/10002527/","projectTitle":"Because Ideas Don’t Write Themselves","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Filanoski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2533475_orig.jpg?crop=354,354,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1576259406089","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-filanoski"},{"teacherId":9191887,"projectId":9576163,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our math posters project. Because of you, our classroom has been transformed into a space where math concepts are visible, accessible, and supportive for all learners.\r\n\r\nHow did this project impact your students' learning?\r\nThe math posters have had an immediate and positive impact on student learning. Many of my students benefit from visual supports, and having key concepts displayed throughout the classroom allows them to reference information independently when they need it. Whether they are checking a multiplication table, reviewing place value, using fraction visuals, or following problem-solving steps, the posters act as constant reminders that help students stay engaged and confident. For several students, seeing a concept presented visually at just the right moment has helped difficult math ideas finally \"click.\"\r\n\r\nWhat were you able to accomplish in your teaching because of the materials provided?\r\nWith these updated and engaging posters, I am able to reinforce math instruction more consistently across lessons and settings. The visuals allow me to connect small-group instruction to independent work, helping students transfer skills more successfully. Instead of stopping frequently to reteach directions or concepts, I can prompt students to use the posters as tools, which builds independence and self-confidence. This has allowed me to focus more on instruction, targeted support, and meaningful feedback.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a classroom environment where math feels approachable and supportive rather than overwhelming. Students are beginning to rely on visual cues, take ownership of their learning, and approach math tasks with greater confidence. These tools will continue to support them every day as they build foundational skills at their own pace.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students and helping make math a subject they can see, understand, and feel successful in.","fullyFundedDate":1757511216480,"projectUrl":"project/from-posters-to-practice-building-math/9576163/","projectTitle":"From Posters to Practice: Building Math Confidence in Special Education","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Winking","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9191887_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755726164785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9191887"},{"teacherId":9191887,"projectId":9189202,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project. Because of you, our classroom now has the tools and resources needed to help students strengthen essential executive functioning skills such as planning, organization, time management, and self-regulation.\r\n\r\nMany of our students face challenges in these areas, which can make everyday classroom tasks feel overwhelming. With the materials you helped provide, we are able to break complex tasks into manageable steps and teach students concrete strategies they can use right away. These resources have made it easier for students to stay on task, complete assignments more independently, and feel more confident in their abilities.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped us create a more structured and supportive learning environment where students can practice executive functioning skills in meaningful, real-world ways. We are already seeing students become more organized, more engaged, and more willing to advocate for themselves when they need help. These are skills that will benefit them not just in the classroom, but as they move on to high school and beyond.\r\n\r\nWhat makes our students truly special is their resilience. Many are navigating learning differences, ADHD, or other challenges, yet they show up each day ready to learn and grow. My students were so excited that they immediately began exploring everything, passing pieces around and trying to solve problems before I even gave them directions! One student said, \"This is going to make fractions so much easier!\"—and they were right.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the fraction manipulatives to model equivalent fractions and compare sizes, which has been especially helpful for my visual learners. The tri-fold math tools have quickly become a favorite reference during independent work, helping students feel confident and independent. The PEMDAS game has turned order of operations practice into a fun competition that everyone wants to win—students are actually asking to play during free time!\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to dive into multi-step word problems, where students will use these tools to break problems into smaller parts, check their work, and explain their thinking to classmates. These resources are helping build not just math skills but also collaboration and confidence.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made this possible, and my students feel supported and motivated to keep learning. During a recent group project on persuasive writing, students were able to work without the constant buzz (literally and figuratively) of their phones. The difference was incredible: conversations flowed, collaboration deepened, and ideas came together more quickly. No clutter, no distractions, just focused creativity.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving us the gift of organization—it's more powerful than you might imagine.
