Our students have special needs not only to learn but also for personal needs. The color pencils and erasers have helped my students to be able to participate in art and writing. They love the special scissors that make squiggly lines when they cut. These have especially given them great joy!\r\n\r\nAs the teacher, and my many paras who also work with these special needs students, we greatly appreciate having plenty of gloves to help our students with their personal needs. The Lysol spray allows us to spray the classroom when the students leave for P.E. or after school to help us all stay healthy. \r\n\r\nThe cardstock has allowed me to make many bingo boards, which we adhere the velcro onto and then put the bingo chips on there. Some students are in wheel chairs or even are almost laying flat, We can hold up the bingo card so they can see it, and the chips don't fall off!\r\n\r\nAll the items we are using and are so very greatful for everything!","fullyFundedDate":1746215384058,"projectUrl":"project/just-the-basics-for-a-special-needs-clas/9198970/","projectTitle":"Just the Basics for a Special Needs Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Huerena","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2769572_orig.jpg?crop=1715,1715,x0,y51&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746053202960","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2769572"},{"teacherId":4087091,"projectId":8563537,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and support of our music classroom! Because of you, our students now have several new ukuleles and folders that have truly transformed the way we learn and make music together.\r\n\r\nFor many students, this is their first time learning to play a string instrument. These instruments have helped build confidence, encourage collaboration, and deepen their understanding of music in a hands-on, engaging way.\r\n\r\nThe folders you provided have also made a huge impact. Students now have a dedicated space to keep their music organized, which helps us spend less time shuffling papers and more time singing and playing. It's a small but powerful tool that helps reinforce responsibility and structure—two essential skills in music and beyond.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our music program is more vibrant, more organized, and more accessible to every student. Because of your kindness, our students now have the supplies they need to stay organized, focused, and ready to learn each day.\r\n\r\nThe colored copy paper has been a huge hit! We've used it to organize our music by section and voice part, making it much easier for students to follow along and stay on track. The different colors have added a fun visual element to rehearsals while helping students quickly locate the music they need.\r\n\r\nThe pencils and other supplies have also made a noticeable difference in our daily routines. Students are now able to take notes directly on their sheet music, mark key changes, and stay prepared for every rehearsal. With everything in one place they've taken real ownership of their materials and their learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom runs more smoothly, and our students are more confident and engaged. Being able to bounce on a yoga ball while at their desk makes all the difference for them! They can acutally focus on some school work for a given amount of time!\r\n\r\nInstead of going to the sensory room to just be on an i-Pad, my students are marveling that they can push some tiles on the wall and make them change color! Not only are they excited to choose a book from opur classroom library, but now they are more interested in going to the school library to choose books!\r\n\r\nI have also been able to print out many books for my students to take home with them, based on current events. This is due to the laminate and ink that was also part of this grant (refer to the pictures).\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of many donors, my Developmental Skills students are developing a love for reading! This will stay with them for life. Even if they never learn to read themselves, they are learning to appreciate a book that is being read to them. Thank you SO much for helping to complete this grant! This grant has allowed all of my students to feel comfortable and safe at school. I work with developmentally challenged kiddos. Most of them, even though they are older, have toileting issues and need help in that area. Your contirbution has helped!\r\n\r\nIn adition to this, we asked and recieved cleaning items, such as laundry detergent and disinfectant wipes. My students are learning to use a washing machine and dryer. They are using the supplies granted to do so. This has a huge impact on their lives. This is a skill that they will use all the time. They then are also able to help out with these chores at home. My stuidents are invested in keeping their spaces clean. They are able to use the disinfectant wipes to do this.\r\n\r\nWe also asked for bandages.
