By recreating The Royal Game of Ur, we have given students the opportunity to touch, examine, and play with a historically accurate representation of an ancient artifact. The printer's ability to replicate intricate designs and durable components makes it possible to bring a wide variety of historical objects to life, from ancient tools to architectural models. Students are particularly excited about the tactile and interactive experience, with one student noting how much easier it is to imagine life in ancient Mesopotamia when engaging directly with the game. This opportunity has been transformative, allowing students to engage in hands-on activities that inspire creativity, collaboration, and a deeper curiosity about technology and engineering.\r\n\r\nAt the end of the semester, students who earned free time due to their excellent grades and work completion were rewarded with an opportunity to explore VEX IQ robotics. The highlight of the activity was playing robot soccer, where students used simple clawbots and VEX IQ controllers to compete in teams. This game encouraged collaboration, as students strategized together on how to maneuver their robots to score goals while defending their side. In addition to the soccer game, some students experimented with minor modifications to the clawbots, sparking creativity and engagement.\r\n\r\nThe activity not only allowed students to develop teamwork and problem-solving skills in a hands-on environment but also sparked meaningful conversations about robotics. Several students expressed excitement about the possibilities, saying, \"It would be cool if we could build robot basketball,\" while others commented, \"Joining a robotics club is cool; they didn't have this at my old school.\" These conversations reflected genuine interest and curiosity about what more could be done with robotics.\r\n\r\nIt's worth noting that VEX Robotics offers competitions each year, featuring a different game each season. This exposure to robotics and friendly competition opened the door for students to explore these possibilities. To build on this momentum, I plan to host a VEX robotics intramural this spring. My hope is that this experience will not only stir further interest in robotics but also lay the foundation for establishing a robotics club in the future.
