The End-of-Year Pre-K Survival Kit arrived just in time, and the impact was immediate—students' eyes lit up as I shared about how we are receiving sensory tools. For many of our learners, especially those with big emotions or unique sensory needs, these materials help create a safe, welcoming environment where they can self-regulate and re-engage with learning.\r\n\r\nAs we move into our final classroom projects—reflecting on our year, creating memory books, and practicing kindergarten-ready routines—these materials will help us end strong. My students have been using our class set of Play-Doh for all kinds of lessons: for making \"snakes\" and using them to trace the shapes of letters and numbers on laminated mats, to modeling 2D and 3D shapes, to simply having a \"Play-Doh party\" as a reward for when we meet our whole-class behavior goal. \r\nIn addition, allowing students to model their own shapes has deepened their understanding of 3D shapes significantly. As anyone who has ever learned a new language can tell you, moving from the \"receptive\" to the \"productive\" phase is a huge leap, and the same is true for my students learning the names of shapes: picking a multiple-choice answer for what name matches a shape is one thing, but being able to actually model a cone, sphere, or cube themselves has really pushed them in a way that I can tell has helped them grow immensely.
