Because of your kindness, we were able to fill our library with books from some of our favorite authors that students and families can read together. \r\n\r\nA fifth-grade student, who recently immigrated to the US and is just beginning to learn English, was excited to see popular books that he could read in his primary language. He was so excited to be reading some of the same books as his peers. Prior to your donations, we had mostly picture books, but now we have several high interest books for students of all grade levels, including chapter books. \r\n\r\nHaving the hand-held translator has been a wonderful tool for newcomer students. It has really assisted the para educator as well as being a tool for substitute teachers to communicate easily with students as they learn English. \r\n\r\nWe are truly touched and thankful for your kindness. When students have strong literacy skills in their first language, we see a direct correlation to their improved literacy skills when learning a new language.
