It was super helpful for students to have a short story to read that can make an impact on their thinking. Students read the books together and then wrote about their ideas and shared their thinking. Then they look back to find evidence of their idea and prove it to their partners in their book club groups.\r\n\r\nSometimes it is hard to motivate reluctant readers to talk about the story and share their ideas. Our book clubs were talkative and vibrant because we had wonderful stories to discuss together. It is sometimes hard to motivate students to discuss their ideas and opinions around stories that they read. With the help of really interesting stories, my students were discussing the lessons learned by the characters, writing about how the author writes the story to draw our interest and set up suspense. The also analyzed how one part of the the book is the turning point and became SO important for the rest of the story.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part was to see students ideas GROW as they talked about the story together!
