Your generosity is appreciated a lo my students families because not everyone can provide a snack for our class, so to take that load of off means so much.\r\nStudents are excited to get to choose different prizes from the party favor sensory toys by following our schools guidelines for success. With so many different things to choose from, students try their best to show responsibility, kindness, respect and perseverance everyday to earn cougar paws in exchange for prizes. Students have also been enjoying playing the different games that were included in this project. They have work on being partners, taking turns, and problem solving while having fun! \r\nOur class works on our social emotional learning throughout the week, so reading the story Just Now I feel Angry will give students another way they can work through their feelings and emotions. Students spend time mastering an instrument by practicing alone and then once ready, can join the greater group. \r\n\r\nIn the case of the study of piano, students move from playing songs based on a color and then with note names. Eventually students will play chords and be able to play chords while they sing. This, of course over much practice time. \r\n\r\nHaving these piano stands that adjust in height, students of all ages are able to practice properly. Students are able to, with even just a few chords accompany themselves singing! \r\n\r\nAnd in a world where students are so plugged in, it gives them a chance to unplug and just enjoy singing with friends, knowing that they are playing the chords themselves. How cool is that? They feel so proud of themselves with each successful chord and they want to, as they say, \"Do it again! Do it again!\" It's also been a chance to revive old, familiar songs that they learned when they were younger like Skip to my Lou and O Susanna. It's also been fun to combine the ukuleles with all the instruments in the room like xylophones and drums and even recorders. Our whole school has been positively impacted by this donation of 360 sets of headphones. Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade use headphones in a daily basis in the classroom. In first grade, we use iPads every day to help students in math by using the iReady math program. Students need headphones to hear their individualized math lessons and to focus on their learning. Without headphones, students would not be able to hear their programs and the learning environment would be extremely chaotic. Also, many students would not be able to provide their own headphones, so your generosity has helped every student in every grade level access learning at school and create equitable learning spaces. \r\n\r\nWith major budget cuts in our district this year and next, our school did not have money to replace broken headphones.
