The hygiene kits have been an essential part of our classroom routine, especially for students who often feel self-conscious due to their lack of access to basic personal care items. With the deodorants and face wipes, students have started taking more pride in their appearance, which boosts their confidence and allows them to focus more on their work instead of worrying about how they feel. I've seen students open up about how these simple items made them feel respected and valued, a feeling that they don't always get at home or in other areas of their lives.\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reactions were overwhelmingly positive. The deodorant, face wipes, and hygiene kits were especially exciting for them because they felt like something they would find in a care package, like a personal gift. Many of them expressed surprise and gratitude. They hadn't realized that someone out there cared enough to provide these kinds of resources for them. One student, who typically struggles with social interactions, mentioned that the deodorant made him feel more comfortable around his peers, and it gave him a new sense of confidence. These small but impactful moments show how much these resources matter to them.\r\nLooking ahead, we're using these supplies as part of a broader classroom initiative to encourage self-care and responsibility. We are currently working on a project where students will create vision boards about their goals for the year, incorporating lessons on self-esteem and self-advocacy. The students will then share their vision boards in small groups, practicing communication skills and fostering a sense of community. It's incredible to watch them open up about their dreams and aspirations in this safe space we've created.\r\nThe next step for these students is to continue building their self-worth through more structured projects like these, where they can use the materials to practice goal-setting, reflection, and planning for their futures. The hygiene kit items will become part of an ongoing routine where students can care for themselves in a practical way, while also strengthening their emotional and social skills. It's all about giving them the tools they need to succeed, not just academically, but as young people who are capable of overcoming obstacles, expressing themselves, and thriving in life.
