The students I serve in my inclusionary special education behavior program face many challenges — from trauma and poverty to emotional and behavioral disabilities — yet they come to school each day hoping for a fresh start. Through intentional relationship-building, consistent follow-through, clear communication, and access to basic needs items, I work hard to earn their trust and help them feel safe at school. With structure, empathy, and positive reinforcement — including a Care Closet for hygiene and essentials and a Classroom Prize Store for earning meaningful rewards — my students learn to express their needs in more prosocial ways, take academic risks, and build confidence in themselves. Because of your kindness, they’ll have access to basic care items and motivating rewards that help them feel safe, confident, and supported in the classroom.
