English-speaking students and Spanish-speaking students are now reading together, helping one another with words, pronunciation, and understanding. It's incredible to watch friendships grow as language barriers begin to fade.\r\n\r\nThe books have sparked a curiosity and excitement for language learning in all of our students. English learners are gaining confidence, while native English speakers are becoming more empathetic and eager to learn Spanish. When the materials began arriving, I introduced them to my students, who were initially hesitant but curious. For example, they weren't quite sure what to make of the T-shirt folder at first, so their early attempts led to some crumpled shirts. We had a similar experience when practicing silverware rolls. It quickly became clear that staff support and visual demonstrations will be essential as students become familiar with these tasks.\r\n\r\nSome items, like the microfiber cloths and spray bottles, were easily added to our daily classroom routine, since my students are already accustomed to cleaning their tables each day.\r\n\r\nThe floor sweeper and microfiber mop generated the most excitement. While many students are familiar with using a vacuum cleaner and the \"up/down\" motion needed to clean both carpet and tile, these quieter tools offer great alternatives for students who are sensitive to loud noises and hesitant to use the vacuum. We're currently working on learning how to grip the handles securely while pushing these tools.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead to the new school year, I plan to introduce additional activities such as setting the table, washing dishes, scrubbing the sink, sorting trash from recycling, and refilling salt and pepper shakers. I'm excited to see how my students grow with these new responsibilities, and I'm incredibly grateful for your support in helping them build these essential life skills.","fullyFundedDate":1746507454210,"projectUrl":"project/vocational-life-skills-development/9320375/","projectTitle":"Vocational & Life Skills Development","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Katie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9219256_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705507599369","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9219256"},{"teacherId":9777561,"projectId":8819680,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for the classroom rug you provided for my classroom through your generous donations.
