These tools have allowed me to stock my \"calm down corner\" space with engaging and useful fidgets that my students love. The calm down corner was a popular place when they saw all the new things I had added! One of my neurodivergent students struggles with watching videos in class. He doesn't like the noise and often uses the calm down corner as a place to take a break. He enjoys using the new tools to help him calm down. \r\n\r\nI've also been able to provide multiple students with headphones for when they are working at their desk but feeling overwhelmed by the noise in class. I often have to borrow headphones from our special education teacher and return them after using them but now I have my own set.\r\n\r\nThank you all for helping supply my students with the tools they need!","fullyFundedDate":1755119167396,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-tools-to-support-all-learners/9573745/","projectTitle":"Sensory Tools to Support All Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carpenter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3217366_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x0,y334&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597006008018","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3217366"},{"teacherId":1096364,"projectId":9621990,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support—your generosity has made a real difference in our classroom! We've been using the new resources daily, and it's been incredible to see the positive impact on our students. One of our favorite classroom moments was when we used the sensory items and kinetic sand during a \"Feelings and Focus\" lesson. Students chose a calming tool to use while we talked about how to handle big emotions, and it made the whole experience more engaging and meaningful. These tools have now become a regular part of our choice time, where students can earn time with their favorite items as a reward for positive behavior and hard work.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were beyond excited. The moment they saw the bins of kinetic sand, textured toys, and fidget items, their eyes lit up and the classroom buzzed with energy. Many of them couldn't believe the items were for them, and they eagerly asked how they could earn time to use them. It was heartwarming to watch them explore the materials with curiosity and joy, and since then, the items have helped create a calm and supportive space for learning and regulation.\r\n\r\nAlongside the sensory tools, another incredible addition this year is the daily snack option. Thanks to your generous support, students are now able to request one snack a day, ensuring they have the energy they need to stay focused and ready to learn. Many of my students come to school hungry, so this extra nutrition makes a world of difference. As for what's next, we're currently working on a collaborative storytelling unit where students are writing and illustrating their own books. The calm, focused energy made possible by snacks and sensory items has helped students feel more ready to express themselves creatively. I can't wait to share their finished stories soon!","fullyFundedDate":1755730248785,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-basic-needs-resourc/9621990/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional & Basic Needs - Resource Room","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Strong","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1096364_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1520990152505","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/strongsquad"},{"teacherId":9800269,"projectId":9282811,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for choosing to back my project. The last month of the year was a big success and hit with my students due to our new supplies and our wonderful snacks. Students where able to measure, mix, and bake delicious and healthy cookies all in one day. Being able to watch our baking efforts cook has been exciting for my students.\r\n\r\nThis month we begin our study of farms. I'm looking forward to exploring baking bread, making pizzas, and baking strawberry shortcake as part of the unit. \r\n\r\nAgain thank you for your thoughtful giving and know that your donation has contributed not only to the learning of my current class but also future classes.","fullyFundedDate":1734541057648,"projectUrl":"project/cooking-up-creativity-an-oven-for-presc/8974977/","projectTitle":"Cooking Up Creativity: an Oven for Preschool Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hatfield","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8041932_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696477201814","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8041932"},{"teacherId":9800269,"projectId":8870597,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support in my classroom. My students are really loving the new wiggle stools. Students are allowed to exchange their chairs for wiggle stools should they need them. Students enjoy being able to move as they read. Students were really excited when they came in and saw the new stools, markers, and books. \r\nStudents use the stools daily when we meet in small groups, and when they need movement at their seats. Students enjoy the movement when reading and learning. It is also helping students who need that extra movement so they do not tip their chairs. \r\n\r\nStudents have been using the markers in various art projects. The other day students were excited to use the new markers for an art project we did. Students were drawing and coloring flowers inspired by Van Gogh. Students used the markers to create colorful creations. \r\n\r\nThe next step for students is to keep using these tools and items in class to enhance learning! After careful explaining of how to use the materials received students began to engage in learning with them. The most loved materials by far are the Theraputty and fidgets. \r\n\r\nStudents in my classroom engage daily with the theraputty. It is often pulled out during free choice time, students enjoy manipulate the putty with their hands, cutting it with scissors, and hiding buttons in it. Theraputty has not only provided emotional regulation support for students who have a hard time self regulating but has also provided opportunities for students to improve their fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nFidgets are used daily by students during large group times. These have been a game changer for many of my students. Since I've introduced these tools I have seen a marked improvement in students engagement and attention span. I intentional introduced the fidgets as a tool not a toy and the students have been so aware that our fidgets are tools that we use to help us focus our attention.\r\n\r\nLastly the weighted capybara has been immensely helpful for one of my students in particular. Each day they sit with \"Capy\" during large group and engage with the content being taught.
