As winter approached and our school began preparing for family events, our students were buzzing with excitement and ideas. With the beautiful card stock you provided, they created paper snowflakes. These handmade decorations transformed our hallways and gym, families who attended our winter events were welcomed by student-made snowflakes, and many commented on how warm and inviting our school felt.\r\n\r\nOne of the most special parts of this project was decorating the wooden ornaments you provided. Students thoughtfully designed each ornament with messages of encouragement, gratitude, and hope. We talked extensively about what it means to \"pay kindness forward,\" and students reflected on how small gestures can have a big impact. These ornaments were not just art projects—they were kindness gifts. Many were given to classmates, teachers, and family members, while others were shared with community members who could use an extra smile. Watching students carefully wrap their ornaments and explain the meaning behind their designs was truly powerful.\r\n\r\nYour support also enabled us to create holiday cards for our local senior center. Using the card stock and acrylic markers, students crafted personalized cards filled with warm wishes and thoughtful messages. We discussed how the holiday season can sometimes feel lonely for seniors, and students took this to heart. They wrote notes, cheerful drawings, and wishing recipients health and happiness. When I delivered the cards, the staff at the senior center expressed deep appreciation and handed them out to residents and visitors.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our entire class, our school community, and the seniors who received heartfelt holiday wishes, thank you for helping us pay kindness forward. Your support has created ripples of joy that continue to spread.","fullyFundedDate":1763485806027,"projectUrl":"project/kindness-challenge-paying-it-forward/9876949/","projectTitle":"Kindness Challenge: Paying it Forward","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schlichemeyer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9130522_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728013384645","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9130522"},{"teacherId":10302590,"projectId":9910040,"letterContent":"This was an exciting project that all students in our school could participate in during our schoolwide Kindness Week Celebration. Students used the materials to make Kindness Keychains to give to someone in our school community. Students asked questions about who they could give their keychain to and we talked about what they might say when they gave it to their special person. We discussed that kindness is about our words and actions towards others and how this project lets them speak kind words and use their actions to show kindness to others.\r\n\r\nStudents loved that they were making keychains with beads, as it was a different project that they had not made before. With the variety of bead and cording colors students were happy they were able to choose their favorite colors and be really creative with their patterns and designs. We live in the Seattle area and many students were excited to make Seahawk colored keychains, because they had just won the Super Bowl. \r\n\r\nA special moment happened when I saw two students exchange keychains. The students took turns sharing heartfelt reasons why they wanted to give their friend the keychain. Both students smiled at each other and gave each other a big hug.
