They say the chairs are very comfortable. Believe it or not, some students spend part of their playtime in the calming corner instead of playing at other centers. That tells me the grant was perfect for the classroom last year and will be for years to come. I have quite the assortment of fidgets for them to use; however, the squishies are a favorite. This year I added a big strawberry and a highland cow!\r\n\r\nAnother fun item from this grant was a carpet cleaner. After snack, the students take turns passing it around the classroom to clean up their messes. I am so grateful for your generosity and patience as we waited for all of the materials to arrive. Due to shipping delays with the microscope, we have just recently received it.\r\nWhen the microscope was finally unveiled, several children gathered close, buzzing with anticipation. For many of them, this was their very first time using a compound microscope.\r\nWe are currently using the microscope to explore prepared slides and to practice careful observation, and learning how to handle laboratory equipment responsibly.\r\nNext, they will be excited when I introduce the strawberry DNA extraction kit so students can see DNA with their own eyes and make meaningful connections between cells, genetics, and living organisms. These hands-on experiences will help to build scientific understanding as we continue our life science studies.\r\nYour support has brought high quality scientific tools into our classroom will give the children the chance to experience science as something active, engaging, and full of wonder.
