With those additional snacks, our classroom can provide up to 680 individual snacks each month for our 8 students.\r\n\r\nHaving a reliable supply of snacks means that my students can focus on learning, participating, and being part of our classroom community without food being a barrier to their school day. Your donation helps us make sure that our students have something available when they need it, and that is incredibly meaningful.\r\n\r\nOur classroom is also a place where we learn how to be part of a community.\r\n\r\nBecause we are a Structured Learning Classroom, we spend a great deal of time explicitly teaching social-emotional skills. We practice identifying and managing emotions, using kind words and safe hands, following school expectations, solving problems, communicating our needs, and learning how to interact successfully with others.\r\n\r\nThe books and social-emotional learning materials you provided give us more opportunities to practice these skills in meaningful and engaging ways.\r\n\r\nAnd then there is ART! 🎨\r\n\r\nDue to budget constraints, our school's art program was cut this year, so we have been bringing lots of creativity into our classroom. The art supplies you donated have allowed us to continue creating, exploring, and learning through art — without asking our classroom staff to purchase quite so many supplies out of their own pockets.\r\n\r\nThe books, art supplies, snacks, wipes, and other materials you provided may seem like simple classroom items, but they support some of the most important parts of our students' school day: learning, creating, communicating, regulating, participating, and feeling cared for.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping me create a classroom where their needs can be met and where they have opportunities to learn and shine.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful for your generosity and for the reminder that there are people outside our classroom who believe in these kids, too.
