The addition of wobble stools, weighted lap pads, fidgets, and SEL games has transformed the way students regulate their emotions and engage in the learning environment.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials arrived, the excitement was contagious! Students eagerly explored the flexible seating options, and several commented that the wobble stools made it easier to \"get their wiggles out\" while still paying attention. The weighted lap pads quickly became a favorite during small group work and calming breaks—they've provided a sense of comfort and grounding for many students who previously struggled to settle back into class after moments of frustration or sensory overload.\r\n\r\nOur SEL games and books have become an integral part of our weekly lessons. Students are learning to identify and name their emotions, practice coping strategies, and build empathy through shared stories and discussions. One memorable moment was during a \"Feelings & Choices\" game when a student proudly said, \"I used my calm-down strategy instead of yelling today!\" Moments like that show just how powerful these tools can be in helping kids grow.\r\n\r\nThese resources have not only supported individual self-regulation but also created a more positive, inclusive classroom culture where students feel safe and supported. Our next step is to continue incorporating these tools into daily routines and small group lessons, helping students generalize their self-regulation strategies across different settings.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a lasting impact—thank you for giving our students the opportunity to thrive!","fullyFundedDate":1750208906531,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-students-with-self-regulatio/9119810/","projectTitle":"\"Empowering Students with Self-Regulation Tools for Success!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Spiess","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9926709"},{"teacherId":9902943,"projectId":9071915,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a more engaging, supportive, and inspiring space for learning. When the boxes arrived, the students were absolutely buzzing with excitement—they couldn't believe all the new tools and materials were for them! From stress-relief fidget tools to collaborative games and SEL journals, each item found an eager hand ready to use it. One especially memorable moment was during our first \"Mindful Monday,\" when students used their new journals to reflect on their emotions and goals for the week. Several students shared how writing things down helped them feel more focused and ready to tackle the day—something we hadn't seen before with such enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've launched a classroom challenge called \"Team Thrive,\" where students work in groups using team-building kits and SEL activities to solve weekly real-life scenarios. One recent challenge had students developing strategies to manage peer conflict, and they used role-play cards and calming tools to act out their solutions. Not only did they take it seriously, they loved it—and the laughter, collaboration, and growth were real. The incentives you helped provide have also been powerful motivators. Students are showing more ownership of their learning, striving to meet personal goals, and supporting one another in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for our class include diving deeper into emotional regulation and decision-making as part of our SEL curriculum. With your support, we now have the tools to make this learning truly hands-on and impactful. Thank you for believing in our students and giving them the resources to thrive—not just academically, but as kind, resilient, and empowered individuals.","fullyFundedDate":1738186540851,"projectUrl":"project/helping-all-students-be-successful/9071915/","projectTitle":"Helping All Students Be Successful","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rada","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9902943"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36717","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":697,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":68.8,"schoolId":36717,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Davis Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Davis Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/college-place-school-district-250/davis-elementary-school/36717"}
