The art supplies arrived and have already been enjoyed by students. We used some of the pipe cleaners for creative projects at the end of the year. Students used pipe cleaners, cut pool noodles, paper and other supplies to build 3D houses, people, creatures, etc. They had so much fun expanding their imaginations to see what they could build. \r\n\r\nMy 1st grade students also used the pipe cleaners to create coffee filter butterflies with their preschool buddies. They taught their buddy how to make the butterfly and then they flew them together outside. \r\n\r\nThe beads were also greatly engaging during our play portion of the day. Not only are they a fun project for the students, they also help student build their fine motor skills. Finally, the lip balm is used as a 'smelly spot' that I put on the back of a student's hand if they are doing a good job. One student gets to pick the flavor and the students who are working quietly get to enjoy the scent. It is a fun way to reward students in the classroom. I have been in awe at how much community support there is for teachers. When I first started teaching, every need I had in the classroom came from my paycheck. I never thought to ask for help because I felt that I knew coming in I would have to cover most expenses. \r\n\r\nI began leaning more into donor's choose over the past few years and I have been blown away by the generosity from donor's like you. Most people would never choose to buy bins for a teacher - it's not as exciting as playdough or books for kids to read. However, it's just as important and items like this add up to hundreds of dollars, if not thousands, from my paycheck each year. I am so thankful that you are helping me with this purchase! Getting my classroom materials organized and stored means that the classroom can stay exciting and new each month of the year and that I don't need to redo teaching materials because I can't find or didn't keep what I made last year. \r\n\r\nIt has a huge positive impact both on me as a teacher and the type of classroom my students get to experience. I will be moving to preschool next year where this type of organization is even more important.
