The fifth graders had a blast reading about Johnathan and Abby as they continually tried to overcome nature throughout the story. This book is a wonderful tool to explore theme, the students truly seemed to latch on to the book's theme of \"nature is more powerful than man\". \r\nThere are many moments through the book that allow students to gather evidence and link events together to identify the theme, especially when we had in depth conversations about what the characters would have to overcome next.
