Each timer has a specific goal (each timer is a different amount of time), when students are feeling dysregulated or I see a student might be getting closer to a dysregulated state, we grab the timers, and the students can choose how much time they believe they are needing. Seeing students not only use the timers on their own but even bring the timers over to a classmate when they seem not themselves has been so heartwarming. When I saw it happen the first time about a week ago, my heart was overjoyed as I don't think this skill would be one I could see happening without having had these timers in the classroom. So thank you so much for the support in purchasing these lava timers to help my students. \r\n\r\nMoreover, you also helped in purchasing both fidget toys and exercise bands to put onto the chair legs. Both of these items have made a huge difference in a couple of students' lives. Since adding these bands to either the chair legs and/or the table legs I have seen a huge increase in how much certain students are participating in the lessons and seem to be retaining so much more of the lessons as they can get their needs for wiggle out of their system in a way that still makes sure I can teach the lesson and they seem so much happier too! Same for the fidget toys! They seem so much happier when they can have a small fidget item at their table spot that they can hide and use while they are participating in the lesson still! \r\n\r\nOverall, my classroom has benefited so immensely from the amazing donations that you all gave, and I cannot even start to say thank you for it all properly. \r\n\r\nI hope you all have an amazing 2025!","fullyFundedDate":1735110665055,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-give-my-students-work-on-their-s/8868175/","projectTitle":"Help me give my students work on their sensory needs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baekdahl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9549571_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759095440299","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9549571"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42328","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":514,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":7,"percentAsian":48,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":30,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":84.0,"schoolId":42328,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bennett Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bennett Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/bellevue-school-district-405/bennett-elementary-school/42328"}
