We earned through good behavior a slime making afternoon with supplies from this project! Once students are done with their work, they flock to see where he is hanging our or what he is doing. We haven't had an opportunity to clean the tank yet, but I am excited to share this experience with them. The new art supplies were a welcome addition, and brought joy to my students. The pool noodles became such fun light sabers as we celebrated May the 4th Be With You, as a classroom earned behavior celebration. We used the acrylic paints to decorated the tape at the base of our light sabers. This was a moment we will never forget.\r\nThe paints made for a beautiful Mother's Day art project! I know as a mom myself that these will be cherised memories for years to come. Now they do and they are excited to share with their families their new supplies. The space is use multiple times a day and kids love it! We use it for calendar time as well as a minding spot for transitions during the day! The transitions payed off... it is a life skill to learn to wait and this is what we practice during transitions! We recently had swim lessons and this required about 10 min of transition/wait time and we got complements from staff at pool and community members in how nicely we waited!!! The kids were proud of themselves and I was proud of them! While some students are still intrinsically motiveated most require a little more motivation than pride. \r\nWith this project we have an epic treasure box that has been so encouraging to my students. Homework comes in more often because after 4 completed assignments they get a treasure pull! They love earning classroom dollars to purchase something from the treasure box as well. \r\nOur treasure box now includes a variety of super fun toys, including squishies, slime and dinosaur eggs.
