It has been heartwarming to watch our students share materials, work together, and build friendships through play.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments has been watching our students use the new toys during our daily free-choice time. They have been practicing important skills such as problem-solving, taking turns, communicating with their classmates, and using their imaginations. What may look like simple play is actually helping our preschoolers develop the social, emotional, and early academic skills they need to be successful learners.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we look forward to incorporating these wonderful resources into more classroom activities, small-group lessons, and creative learning experiences. Our students will continue building independence, strengthening friendships, and discovering new ways to learn through play. My students were very excited about the snacks. They appreciate the extra food in the morning during the math lesson and later mid afternoon. Many of our students have extended bus rides: a parent today told me his twin sons ride the bus for more than two hours each way. They usually don't get home until about 6 PM so the extra snack in the afternoon helps tide them over. It is amazing how a portion of cheese crackers or fruit snacks can really give kids the energy to stay focused during a long lesson.
