My students thoroughly enjoyed completing this project, and many were eager to try it again this semester (I'm creating a new grant request now!). I am so thankful that I was able to offer them the opportunity to create 3D art with high quality materials and significantly less financial stress on my part. \r\n\r\nMy students seem to respond much better to practical projects, and offering a mosaic was something that many of them could relate to tile laying or other \"useful\" skills. I love to show them that there is so much overlap between \"practical\" skills and art, and art is SO transferable to their daily lives. \r\n\r\nThis semester, as mentioned previously, I am going to try to get funding to complete mosaics again. I also want to try working with plaster cloth strips to make casts of their arms for them to decorate in a way that shows their identity. Many of my students have tattoos (or plan to), and this is a way to allow them to express themselves without altering their bodies permanently before their frontal lobe has fully developed. \r\n\r\nI so appreciate your contribution to my classroom, and thank you for helping me share my love of art with my students!","fullyFundedDate":1772633509324,"projectUrl":"project/3d-art-in-a-nontraditional-setting/10116683/","projectTitle":"3D Art in a Nontraditional Setting","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Foerster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10440850"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_107475","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":8,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":null,"schoolId":107475,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Diversified Minds on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Diversified Minds","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/warren-county-public-schools/diversified-minds/107475"}
