These are titles that become their home library!\r\nTheir joy is effervescent! Imagine a book store opened up for FREE! Each child went home with more than 3 books to keep. This grant filled a need for more nonfiction and high interest titles. Your donation literally put books in the homes of families. Families who never visit a public library or retail book store. Families whose tight budgets do not allow book purchases. Library shelves become crowded and difficult for young readers to find just-right books for themselves. Young readers don't focus on books that will enhance their reading and guide them through the process. Those titles are typically smaller books that hide amongst others.\r\nJust 1 day after we organized and stashed new readers into labeled bins... those books started getting checked out abundantly! One boy exclaimed - \"oh my - I love reading Pete the Cat with my dad. I hadn't seen these before!\" as he grabbed 3 titles to take home! That is how simple clear boxes can help an elementary school student find appropriate and exciting books to read. They also love the new titles with color and diverse characters. \r\nThe more kids check out and read books, the stronger their reading skills will become. That learning impacts our school and impacts our community in such a benevolent manner!
