The day the boxes for our new sensory area arrived was such an exciting moment as I transformed a corner of our room into a space designed for sensory integration and calming resets. My students could hardly contain their excitement when they visited—the space instantly captured their attention, and they couldn't wait to explore.\r\n\r\nFrom the very first day, these materials have transformed our learning environment. The sensory discs (squares and circles of all sizes), the stringy balls, and the mindful mazes have been especially helpful for one of my students who struggles with calming during transitions. He now independently chooses to use them when he feels overwhelmed, and they help him reset so he can return to group activities. Another favorite has been the soft, fluffy rugs. Students love rolling up in them, rubbing their faces and hands across them, or simply using them to fidget with their fingers and toes. These rugs have provided comfort and regulation, even during our most challenging moments.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts has come from the Conscious Discipline resources, especially the Hand2mind Pawz animals. These interactive tools engage the students in breathing strategies with light changes and timed breathing exercises. Watching a student who was once anxious now eagerly request a Pawz animal and practice breathing alongside it has been a powerful reminder of how meaningful these resources truly are.\r\n\r\nThese additions have not only created a calm and welcoming sensory space, but they have also empowered my students with tools to self-regulate and participate more fully in learning. Their faces light up each time they enter the sensory area, and as their teacher, I can see the growth in independence and confidence that your gift has made possible.\r\n\r\n🐾 Thank you for believing in my students and for supporting their unique needs. Your generosity has left a lasting mark on our classroom and has provided my students with opportunities to feel safe, engaged, and successful. 🐾\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt thanks,\r\nMs. Maria Ferrell, M.Ed\r\nOak Grove Elementary School","fullyFundedDate":1751300728421,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-soften-my-fallouts/9244420/","projectTitle":"Help Me Soften My Fallouts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Maria","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9334333_orig.jpg?crop=1297,1297,x0,y64&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700865581394","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9334333"},{"teacherId":8186148,"projectId":9130302,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing these materials for our classroom! We use the ducks to encourage them to work quietly at their desks. They knew it meant new, comfy, and cool seats for our classroom. The beanbag chair even came in a box that we could make into a castle. We used it as a reading nook for a few weeks. Every student had one day to sit in the bean bag chair during whole group learning on our rug. They were chosen for being good friend, setting a good example to others, or doing excellent class work. The chair now is in our calm down area. Students can go to that area any time they need a moment to collect themselves when they are having feelings of anger, frustration, sadness, etc... The butterfly, sensory lap blanket is also a big hit. The new cube chairs are perfect for use during our small group learning at my reading table. They are stylish, functional, and comfortable. \r\n Thank you so much for your support of my classroom.
