My students currently are remaining at their desks during reading small group time. I would love to give them the option to enjoy the carpet area of the classroom with comfortable, flexible seating options. I also have a damaged rug that needs to be replaced for my rug area of my classroom due to wear and tear. This would help the room be safer (due to curling on the edges) and help make our area more open. I want to use reading time as a section of our day that students can be relaxing in a different setting (on the rug, on a bean bag, on a cushion) to help spark their interest in reading! I also plan on using the flexible seating as a reward for students who need the extra push to complete their work by letting them have a few "reading minutes" on a seat of their choice after staying on task during a lesson.
