Our classroom recently received a fantastic collection of educational games, and the excitement was immediate and contagious. When my students first saw the colorful boxes of new games, their eyes lit up with curiosity and joy. It felt like a mini celebration in our room!\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was during our first \"Game-Based Learning Day.\" Students rotated through the new games! At the Q-Bitz station, I watched a group of students collaborate and compete to recreate patterns using visual-spatial reasoning.\r\n\r\nThese games are now a regular part of our classroom routine. We use them to reinforce math concepts, build strategic thinking, and encourage social-emotional skills like teamwork and communication. For example, Mancala has become a favorite during our math centers, helping students practice counting and planning ahead.\r\n\r\nDuring the school year, we will be working on a unit about patterns and problem-solving. Students will have a chance to create their own board games inspired by the ones we received. They'll design rules, build prototypes, and test them with classmates. This project blends math, writing, and design thinking—and your donations made it possible!\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the tools to learn through play. The next unit had already begun. However, the replacement items were stylus pens for student iPads and a very cool wave making light that student greatly enjoyed. We turned off all of the lights and students got to read their books with the waves. The stylus pens had the kids super excited because we had just learned about Free-form on their iPads and now they could draw and write using the stylus.\r\n\r\nThings happen and we have to pivot, but I am still incredibly grateful for the support you provided my classroom and the resources that will continue being used for several years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1744032973030,"projectUrl":"project/oceans-away/9196787/","projectTitle":"Oceans Away","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Huey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1868272_orig.jpg?crop=2532,2532,x859,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718386940128","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mshueysclass"},{"teacherId":3380267,"projectId":9149790,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed into a vibrant hub of scientific discovery!
