Their eyes widened as they helped unpack the string lights, the neon encouragement sign, the standing desk lamp, and the light-up diffusers. The moment we turned off the harsh overhead fluorescent lights and clicked on our new cozy lighting, an audible sigh of relief washed over the room. One student raised their hands in mock celebration and said, \"It feels like a cozy coffee shop in here instead of a classroom!\" That instant shift in mood set the tone for a completely transformed learning environment.\r\n\r\nThese resources have completely changed how we experience our daily classroom routines, especially during focused work time and stress-relieving activities. During our daily independent reading and writing blocks, we dim the main lights and rely on the soft glow of the string lights around the room, the vibrant motivation from the neon sign, and the soothing, color-changing diffusers releasing calming essential oils. Recently, we used this warm setup during a poetry-writing workshop. Sitting under the soft lights with the gentle scent of lavender in the air, the students were noticeably calmer, more focused, and remarkably deep in their creative flow. My standing desk lamp has also made a huge difference, giving me a warm, focused workspace to hold small-group check-ins without disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the rest of the room.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are building on this newly created sense of calm and focus as we jump into our upcoming collaborative research projects. Students will be working in peer groups to design presentations, and having a peaceful, low-stress environment allows them to collaborate productively without feeling overwhelmed by sensory overload.
