Each student has a binder where they keep notes, practice problems, and laminated reference slips, which they can also take home to review and study. During a recent multi-step equation lesson, students used highlighters to mark key steps in their work, pencils for corrections, and manipulatives from small plastic containers to visualize concepts. This hands-on approach helped students see the connections between steps and stay engaged while building confidence in solving complex problems.\r\n\r\n The students were excited and motivated when they received their binders, highlighters, and manipulatives. Many shared that having their own organized space for notes made them feel prepared and proud. They were especially excited to use the highlighters to personalize their learning and to have manipulatives at their fingertips for hands-on problem-solving. The cart and organized supplies also helped students know exactly where to find what they needed, which made them more independent and confident in their learning. One student commented \"I feel happy that there are still people who care about us.\"\r\n\r\n Next, students will continue using their binders to track progress on pre-algebra skills, focusing on solving multi-step equations and understanding fractions and ratios. They will take home their binders to review and practice, using highlighters to reinforce strategies for solving problems. We also plan to integrate manipulatives into upcoming lessons on graphing and geometry to help students visualize concepts and deepen understanding. These next steps will ensure that students build strong study habits, stay organized, and develop the skills they need for success on the Virginia SOL assessments and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1767229356129,"projectUrl":"project/equipping-young-mathematicians-to-shine/9661040/","projectTitle":"“Equipping Young Mathematicians to Shine”","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. WILSON","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10230064"},{"teacherId":9107842,"projectId":7512497,"letterContent":"This school year has been incredibly successful, thanks to your generous support. The resources you provided have made a tremendous difference in creating a positive and productive learning environment. The composition notebooks gave my students a dedicated space to stay organized with their math work and warm-ups, helping them take pride in their progress. The Lysol disinfecting wipes ensured that we could maintain a clean and healthy classroom, which made everyone feel more comfortable and focused. One of the most memorable moments was when I surprised the students with fruit snacks as a reward for their hard work—they were so excited, and it quickly became a motivator that encouraged them to stay on task and give their best effort.\r\n\r\nBecause of these resources, my students have been more engaged and consistent in their learning. The notebooks have supported their daily practice and allowed them to track their growth, while the fruit snacks provided a simple but meaningful way to celebrate successes and keep morale high. The disinfecting wipes have also been a huge help in keeping our classroom safe and welcoming. As we continue working on problem-solving projects in math, these tools have given my students the foundation to stay organized, encouraged, and ready to learn each day. Moving forward, I know the impact of your generosity will continue to be felt as my students grow academically and gain confidence in their abilities.","fullyFundedDate":1701095505719,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-teacher/7512497/","projectTitle":"First year teacher","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holliday","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9107842"},{"teacherId":9968641,"projectId":9170780,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, my life science students were thrilled to receive snacks, microscope slides, and cleaning supplies. The cell slides brought our lessons to life—students were amazed seeing real plant and animal cells under the microscope for the first time.
